Job Description:

The Town of Pense is seeking a full-􀆟me permanent foreperson to manage and oversee the maintenance and operations of the public works department. This is both a supervisory and hands on role that ensures the efficient functioning of water & wastewater systems and infrastructure, roads, and equipment.

Start Date: Flexible, Ideally May 1st, 2025
Permanent Fulltime 40 hrs per week, flexible scheduling based on operational requirements, evening and weekends when necessary.
Compensation: $30-34/hour based on qualifications, and a comprehensive benefits and pension program.
Location: Pense, SK

Key Responsibilities:
 Leadership and Supervision: Direct, manage, and monitor Public Works staff. Plan daily opera􀆟ons and ensure
all equipment is maintained and operating effectively.
 Water and Wastewater Operations: daily checks of water works and lift station, system maintenance, and permit compliance and reporting.
 Road and Infrastructure Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of municipal roads, alleys, parks, and municipal buildings. Conduct routine inspections and complete minor maintenance.
 Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain equipment as needed, such as grader, tractors, mowers and other municipal machinery.
 Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies to ensure the safety of roads and infrastructure.
 Budget and Planning: Assist the CAO in preparing the departmental budget, monitor expenses, and ensure operations are within approved policies and procedures.
 Reporting and Administration: Prepare monthly reports for Council, attend Council meetings, and keep accurate records.
 Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations, provide safety trainingfor staff, and investigate any workplace incidents.
 Other duties as directed by the CAO.

Qualifications:
 Grade 12 or equivalent.
 Minimum of 2 years experience supervising in a public works environment.
 Minimum Class 5 Drivers license, Class 3A considered an asset or willingness to achieve.
 Level 1 Certification Water Treatment & Distribution and Wastewater or willingness to achieve.
 Other certifications such as Powered Mobile Equipment Operator, First Aid/CPR, confined space, ground disturbance, pesticide applicator are considered an asset.
 Strong management, record-keeping, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Must be reliable and
trustworthy. Excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
 Physically able to perform manual labour and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
