The Town of Pense is seeking a full-me permanent foreperson to manage and oversee the maintenance and operations of the public works department. This is both a supervisory and hands on role that ensures the efficient functioning of water & wastewater systems and infrastructure, roads, and equipment.
Start Date: Flexible, Ideally May 1st, 2025
Permanent Fulltime 40 hrs per week, flexible scheduling based on operational requirements, evening and weekends when necessary.
Compensation: $30-34/hour based on qualifications, and a comprehensive benefits and pension program.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Supervision: Direct, manage, and monitor Public Works staff. Plan daily operaons and ensure
all equipment is maintained and operating effectively.
Water and Wastewater Operations: daily checks of water works and lift station, system maintenance, and permit compliance and reporting.
Road and Infrastructure Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of municipal roads, alleys, parks, and municipal buildings. Conduct routine inspections and complete minor maintenance.
Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain equipment as needed, such as grader, tractors, mowers and other municipal machinery.
Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies to ensure the safety of roads and infrastructure.
Budget and Planning: Assist the CAO in preparing the departmental budget, monitor expenses, and ensure operations are within approved policies and procedures.
Reporting and Administration: Prepare monthly reports for Council, attend Council meetings, and keep accurate records.
Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations, provide safety trainingfor staff, and investigate any workplace incidents.
Other duties as directed by the CAO.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years experience supervising in a public works environment.
Minimum Class 5 Drivers license, Class 3A considered an asset or willingness to achieve.
Level 1 Certification Water Treatment & Distribution and Wastewater or willingness to achieve.
Other certifications such as Powered Mobile Equipment Operator, First Aid/CPR, confined space, ground disturbance, pesticide applicator are considered an asset.
Strong management, record-keeping, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Must be reliable and
trustworthy. Excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Physically able to perform manual labour and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
