Human Resource Officer Employer: Town of The Pas Location: The Pas, MB Application Deadline: TBD

Job Description:

The Human Resource Officer will report to the Chief Administrative Officer and be responsible for providing human resource services and ensuring compliance with Workplace Health and Safety legislation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
•Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
•Post-Secondary Diploma/Certificate in Human Resources Management (alternate combinations of education and experience may be considered).
•Solid understanding of Employment Standards, Human Rights Legislation, Labour Code, Workplace Health and Safety, and other relevant legislation and requirements.
•Excellent interpersonal skills, with emphasis on effective communication and conflict resolution.
•Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
•Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.
•Experience with Collective Agreements is an asset.
•Successful passing of Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Persons Check.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Leads and supports management and staff in navigating employment matters including progressive discipline, grievances, performance management, investigations, and Workplace Health and Safety compliance.
•Leads recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for new employees across all departments (see job description for more details).
•Spearheads the development and review of job descriptions, performance reviews, and analysis of HR data.
•Recommends, develops, schedules, and tracks training and development courses.
•Provides guidance and support to Department Heads, to ensure adherence to legislation, collective agreements, company policy, and Workplace Safety and Health regulations.
•Manages assigned projects by researching appropriate information, analyzing the information gathered, and preparing recommendations for review by the Chief Administrative Officer.
•Participates in emergency response activities in accordance with the Town Emergency Measures Plan.

WORKING SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT:
•Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (some overtime may be required)
•Fast-paced office environment with tasks and priorities shifting rapidly

SALARY: The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from $70,000 to $80,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
