Job Description:

The Rural Municipality of Brokenhead is seeking applications from qualified candidates for the position of Public Works Manager. Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Public Works, Water Plant and Wastewater Departments and the supervision of the employees. They will ensure they meet safety standards and support the RM’s safety program, and oversee work contracted to third parties. Managing the department budget, preparing reports for the CAO, providing quality customer services, reviews, and approves private development plans, coordinates capital projects and municipal infrastructure plans. Provides project management for municipal projects and oversees contract administration.

The successful candidate should possess a high level of maturity; proven management and leadership skills in developing an effective and efficient team; excellent communicator; strong analytical problem solving and conflict management skills. Leads by example. Shows respect and support for others & the goals that are set out by management and the RM. Exhibits a positive and professional attitude to keep building a strong team. Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in civil engineering.
Registration as a Professional Engineer in Manitoba (a member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists of Manitoba). A minimum of five (5) years previous municipal work experience is considered an asset, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
