Job Description:

About the Role

As the Finance Officer, you will oversee the full spectrum of municipal financial services. This includes financial planning, reporting, budgeting, payroll, and compliance with applicable legislation. You will work closely with the CAO, Council, and department heads to ensure sound financial management and transparency across all operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present monthly and annual financial statements and reports
  • Assist in budget development, planning, and monitoring processes
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable, cash flow, banking, and reconciliations
  • Oversee procurement, purchasing, and property assessment services
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits
  • Manage the Municipality’s insurance program
  • Act as CAO in their absence, when designated

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in finance or public sector accounting
  • Working knowledge of Paymate and Munisoft applications (Financials, Payroll, Receivables, )
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, financial planning, and accounting practices
  • Knowledge of the Municipal Act and government financial regulations
