Job Description:

The Rural Municipality of La Broquerie is seeking a seasoned leader that will lead and oversee the Public Works department.  The R.M. of La Broquerie, with a current population of 7,500 permanent residents, residing within 578.97 square kms, is located within minutes of the City of Steinbach and an hour from the City of Winnipeg.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Public Works Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the construction, maintenance and operation of the municipality’s roads and drainage, active transportation, public works equipment and wastewater infrastructure.  The Manager will oversee the $3 million budget and lead a team of 6 employees.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• A minimum of five years’ experience in public works maintenance operations plus a minimum of three years’ experience in a leadership position.
• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or an equivalent of education, training and experience.
• Thorough knowledge of legislation processes and techniques related to road construction and maintenance, heavy equipment operation and fleet maintenance with emphasis on proactive health and safety practices.
• Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, leadership and supervisory skills.
• Financial knowledge of municipal budget processes, asset management, infrastructure plan development and tender/RFQ processes.
• Excellent written skills and able to prepare written reports and policies.
• Wastewater certification or ability to obtain same.
• Valid Driver’s license.
• Able to communicate in the official languages of Canada would be an asset.

The municipality offers a competitive benefits package. Salary Range $88,353.89-$99,443.09.
