Job Type: This is a full-time position
Hours of Work: 40-hour week.
Rate of Pay: $33.25 – 39.88 per hour.
DUTIES
The incumbent is responsible for supervising and coordinating staff in all areas related to the construction and maintenance of water and sewer infrastructure. Consults with Engineering and utility companies prior to excavations, checks all job sites for compliance, and keeps the affected public informed regarding shutoffs and other water and sewer problems. The successful candidate is responsible for exercising cost control, within budgetary guidelines, by following proper purchasing procedures, making monthly checks on assigned fire systems (i.e. hydrants, valves, etc.) and assisting during Sewage Treatment Plant and Lift Station breakdowns. Performs other supervisory duties and call outs.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
• Grade 12 or GED
• Certification in Manitoba Wastewater Collection II and Water Distribution II
• Significant relevant experience (5 years) in the maintenance and construction of sewer and water infrastructure
• Computer proficient
• Ability to interpret plans, specifications, policies, plan and prepare written reports
• Must possess current valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s license
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and written
