Headingley is a rapidly growing community that borders the western boundary of the City of Winnipeg and is a diverse community with a mixture of urban and rural residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural properties. The Rural Municipality of Headingley is seeking dedicated professionals to fill vacant positions within the Public Works Department.
After filling the current vacancies, the Public Works Department will operate as a small group of five (5) full time staff, one (1) seasonal employee and five (5) summer staff. The Department operates largely on a contracting out model for many of the operations such as; snow removal, ice control, roadside mowing, parks and greenspace mowing, weed control, ditch maintenance, garbage and recycling collection, curb and gutter repairs, asphalt repairs, street sweeping, line painting, gravel road grading, road graveling, and water and sewer repairs.
Under the direction of the Public Works Superintendent, the Lead Hand undertakes and guides the daily activities of the wide range of operational services within the Public Works Department. The Lead Hand will undertake, organize, coordinate, schedule, deploy, assist, document and report on the various maintenance or construction programs and crew(s) made up of Public Works staff, contractors, and suppliers. The Lead Hand will train, mentor, coach and guide the Public Works Department on safety, equipment operations, preventative maintenance, continuous improvement, operational efficiencies, and overall general maintenance methodologies.
Public Works Lead Hand Salary Range: $54,000 – $64,000 per annum
