Job Description:

The Rural Municipality of St Andrews is seeking applications from talented and qualified candidates for the position of Public Works Mechanic.

The Mechanic will be under the direction of Public Works Manager or designate. The incumbent is responsible for servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs for all small equipment, vehicles and heavy mechanical equipment of the Municipality

The ideal candidate will possess a Grade 12 Education or equivalent and a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License. The candidate shall have Journeyman Mechanic’s Certification (Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic or Red Seal Light Duty Mechanic) or years of demonstrated and related experience. A familiarity with fuel injection systems, electronic controls and hydraulic systems is required as well as a demonstrated ability to use electric and gas welding and cutting equipment.

This is a full-time (45 hours/week) position plus overtime as required.  The position salary is $37.01/hr with an additional $1.00/hr after a successful 6-month probation period as well as a Municipal pension and benefits program.
